Two people were killed in a collision between a freight truck and a pickup van on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur on Sunday.
Another person was seriously injured in the accident that took place in the Jainabazar area of highway this morning.
The victims are Chanchal Roy, 30, son of Natesh Roy from Alipur village in Sunamganj, and Ripon, 35, son of Siddiq Howlader from Mehendiganj thana of Barishal.
Locals said the Mymensingh-bound pickup van hit the freight truck from behind in the Jainabazar area, leaving one person dead on the spot.
The injured and the deceased were taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, where another person succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Mawna Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mahbub Morshed said, two individuals in the pickup van have died in the accident.
Legal action will be taken regarding this matter, he added.
