The interim government is working sincerely to resolve the issues that arose in Khagrachari on Thursday (19 September) and in Rangamati on Friday (20 September), said Chief Adviser's Press Wing.
"The administration is deeply saddened and distressed by the ongoing violence, attacks, and loss of life following the incident on 18 September, where a man was lynched and subsequently died. Authorities have directed all law enforcement agencies to exercise maximum restraint and ensure the safety of all residents across the three hill districts. The government remains committed to upholding peace, harmony, and mutual goodwill in the region," said a press release on Friday (20 September).
Citizens are urged not to take the law into their own hands or engage in destructive activities.
Any act of taking the law into one's hands or damaging property is considered a punishable and grave offence.
Incidents related to the violence will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will be held accountable.
A robust investigation committee will be formed soon to ensure justice.
The authorities have also been instructed to ensure the proper medical treatment of the injured.
A high-level government delegation, led by the home affairs adviser will visit Khagrachari and Rangamati on Saturday (21 September).
The delegation will include the advisers on hill tracts affairs, local government, and the special assistant to the chief Adviser for defence and national solidarity development.
