Bangladesh were all out for a paltry 149 in their first innings, as they trailed India by a massive 227 runs on the second day of the opening Test in Chennai on Friday .
India had posted 376 in their first innings, and Bangladesh struggled to cope with India's strong bowling attack, failing to last two full sessions.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh bowled India out for 376, adding just 27 runs to their overnight score of 339.
Hasan Mahmud made history as the first Bangladeshi bowler to take five wickets in India, with Taskin Ahmed taking three wickets.
In reply, Bangladesh's batting lineup collapsed quickly. Apart from Najmul Hossain Shanto, none of the top-order batters reached double digits, and Bangladesh lost five wickets for just 40 runs, with Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep leading India’s bowling attack.
