Tamim Iqbal has been absent from the national team for some time, but during the ongoing India-Bangladesh series, he is making his presence felt in a different capacity.

It was well known that he would be commentating on the series, and today marked his full-fledged debut.

Tamim had dabbled in commentary previously, but only as a guest commentator. I

n late 2023, during New Zealand's tour of Bangladesh, he briefly took up the microphone for a session. Even earlier, in the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), he provided commentary.

However, this is the first time Tamim is participating in a series as a full-time commentator.

Additionally, the former Bangladesh captain is experiencing another first—commentating outside his home country.

Following the toss, Tamim appeared on Star Sports' analytical programme, where he was joined by Parthiv Patel.

Later, midway through the first session, Tamim entered the commentary box.

His colleagues for the occasion were former Indian cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri, along with legendary cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle.

On Tamim’s unique debut, Bangladesh had reason to smile as well.
