Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud bags five wickets in the first Test of the two-match series against India in Chennai. After his skilful bowling display, Bangladesh started their first innings and lost three quick wickets at lunch of day two.

With his exceptional bowling performance, Hasan became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take five wickets against India. He also had a five-for in the previous inning against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Variations in length and clever use of the seam were key for Hasan in this inning. While removing Rhohit Sharma, his delivery went away while passing the batter, and Rohit missed the line, so the ball touched his bat before going to the second slip.

Hasan also exploited natural variations, like a too-full delivery that drifted down the legside, catching Shubman Gill by surprise.

His dismissal of Virat Kohli was classic. He lured him into a drive outside off to a ball that wasn't quite there for the shot.

India ended their first inning at 376, with Ravichandran Ashwin hitting the highest of 113. They were at 339 for six at the end of day one.

Facing a daunting target, Bangladesh lost wickets early in their first innings, with two in two balls. Akash Deep struck twice in two consecutive deliveries, dismissing Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque, who both completely misread the line of the ball.
