Cox's Bazar has recorded the highest rainfall of the year.

According to Assistant Meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan, a total of 401mm of rainfall was registered in the past 24 hours, from 6am on Thursday (12 September) to 9am on Friday (13 September).

This marks the highest single-day rainfall for the current season, as stated by Hannan.

In the wake of a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, authorities have instructed the country's Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.

Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Tragically, 6 people have lost their lives in separate landslide incidents triggered by the heavy rainfall in Cox's Bazar.

In the Jhilongja Union of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila, continuous rainfall caused a landslide that claimed the lives of a mother and her two daughters.

Meanwhile, in Ukhiya, a landslide in a Rohingya camp killed three members of the same family.
