Trial for Magura child rape and murder to begin within a week: Law adviser

The trial for the harrowing case of child rape and murder in Magura is set to commence within a week amid widespread public outrage and demands for swift justice

The trial concerning the brutal rape and murder of a child in Magura is scheduled to commence within the next seven days, according to Asif Nazrul, the adviser on law, justice, and parliamentary affairs.  

He made the announcement on Thursday afternoon (13 March) at a press briefing held in the conference room of the Ministry of Law at the secretariat.  

The case has sparked widespread condemnation across the country, with protests erupting in Magura and beyond, demanding swift justice for the victim.

 

8-year-old Asiya died at 1pm at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Army disclosed in a post from their official Facebook page.

She had suffered seven cardiac arrests since yesterday and was in a very critical condition.

She suffered three cardiac arrests since morning, said the army, though doctors were able to stabilise her for the first two times but the third cardiac arrest proved fatal.
