Police in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah have arrested a man on charges of raping a young girl.
The victim’s mother filed a case at Harinakundu Police Station on Monday (10 March), following which the accused, Imran Hossain, was taken into custody.
According to the case statement, Imran allegedly lured the child into a maize field and assaulted her.
Initially, the family attempted to keep the incident private, but as the child’s condition deteriorated, she was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where a medical examination was conducted.
Harinakundu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Rouf Khan confirmed the arrest, stating, “The child’s medical examination has been completed at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, and the accused has been taken into custody.”
