The 8-year-old child from Magura, who was raped, succumbed to injuries at 1pm on Thursday (13 March) at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Despite the application of state-of-the-art medical interventions and the unwavering efforts of specialist doctors, survival proved unattainable.
The child suffered three episodes of cardiac arrest on Thursday morning.
While medical teams managed to stabilise the condition twice, the third episode proved fatal.
The child had been admitted to CMH Dhaka on 8 March.
Bangladesh Army has extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, reaffirming its commitment to stand by them in any necessary capacity.
It has also prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace.
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has also expressed condolences over her death and instructed authorities to ensure swift justice.
