The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed an indefinite prohibition on all forms of public gatherings, rallies, and processions in and around the secretariat, the official residence of the chief adviser at State Guesthouse Jamuna, and key surrounding areas, effective from Thursday (13 March).
In a public notice issued on 13 March, the DMP stated that the measure was taken to uphold public order and prevent potential disruptions.
The restriction has been enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No-III/76).
According to the notice, the ban applies to the vicinity of the secretariat, the chief adviser’s residence at Jamuna, and several adjacent areas, including the Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Shahbagh intersection, Kakrail intersection, and Minto Road.
The directive, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjad Ali, NDC, remains in effect until further notice.
