Russia’s Defence Ministry announced on Thursday (13 March) that its forces have regained control of Sudzha, the largest town in the Kursk region, which had been held by Ukrainian troops since their unexpected cross-border incursion in August 2024.
The recapture of Sudzha marks a critical turning point in the ongoing conflict, as Russian forces edge closer to expelling the remaining Ukrainian troops from their last foothold in the region, reports AP.
In a demonstration of Moscow’s renewed military momentum, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited military headquarters in the area on Wednesday, where he engaged with senior commanders overseeing operations on the front line.
