A tragic bus accident in Cumilla’s Chowddagram on Sunday left three dead and eight injured, with the vehicle crashing into a tree after losing control on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway

At least 3 passengers were killed and 8 others injured when a passenger bus lost control and crashed into a tree on the side of the road in Cumilla’s Chowddagram. 

The incident occurred around 11am on Sunday (15 December) in the Padua area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, said Miah Bazar Highway Police Outpost, In-Charge Jasim Uddin.

He stated that the Hanif Paribahan bus, travelling towards Dhaka, veered off course and collided with a tree in the Padua area. The front end of the bus was severely damaged in the crash.

Identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, while the injured were initially taken to Chowddagram Health Complex for treatment.

Two of the seriously injured passengers were subsequently transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further care.

police have recovered the crashed bus from the scene, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
