DMP roundups 199 persons by operating 667 patrols, 71 checkpoints in 24hrs

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has heightened security arrangements across the city to ensure public safety, and law and order, as it operated 667 patrol teams and 71 check posts in the last 24 hours with rounding up 199 individuals.  

According to the Crime Command and Control Center of DMP, 667 patrol teams of DMP performed duties in two shifts for public safety under its 50 police stations from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Saturday.

Out of these, 340 teams performed duties at night, while 327 teams during the day.

The patrol teams include 479 mobile patrol teams, 73 foot patrol teams, and 115 motorcycle patrol teams.

In addition, 71 police checkposts are operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.

Along with the DMP, 14 Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) patrol teams (two shifts), 12 Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) patrol teams (three shifts) and 10 RAB patrol teams with the DMP are on duty at various crime-prone areas of the metropolis, and 20 checkposts are operated by the APBn, a specialized unit of the police.

In the last 24 hours, 199 people involved in various crimes were arrested in eighty-three combing operations conducted in different areas of the city.

The arrestees include 15 robbers, 17 professional active muggers, five extortionists, 16 thieves, 36 individuals wanted in previous cases, seven identified drug dealers.

In the operation, a pistol, a magazine, a switch gear knife, a steel anti-cutter, a mobile phone, a school bag, Tk 330 in cash, two old steel seats and an Exim (iron sheet) for a metro rail line were seized.

In addition, the recovered drugs include around 250gm of ganja and 95 pieces of yaba.

In the last 24 hours, 73 cases were registered with different police stations of DMP.
