The findings of a public opinion survey conducted by the Police Reform Commission, titled, "What Kind of Police Do We Want?" have been released. The detailed results are now accessible on the commission’s official website at www.prc.mhapsd.gov.bd.
This announcement was made on Tuesday (3 December) through a press release signed by Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed, additional secretary of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Member-Secretary of the Police Reform Commission.
According to the statement, the demand for police reforms has become a matter of urgency following widespread criticism of the violent actions of certain police officers during recent anti-discrimination student protests in Bangladesh.
The protests and the subsequent police response have drawn significant attention both domestically and internationally.
In response to these concerns, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has established the Police Reform Commission to initiate and oversee comprehensive reforms within the police force.
As part of its ongoing activities, the commission conducted the "What Kind of Police Do We Want?" survey to gather valuable public insights and opinions.
The results aim to guide the commission’s reform efforts in aligning policing practices with public expectations and democratic standards.
