Chief of the Police Reform Commission, Safar Raj Hossain, has indicated that proposals are being developed to alter the methods of force used in crowd control.
On Monday (4 November), he met with the heads of the reform commission established to advance state reform activities at the Chief Adviser's Office in Tejgaon.
During this meeting, he briefed the chief adviser on the progress made by the Police Reform Commission.
Safar Raj Hossain reported that the commission has already conducted ten meetings and held an additional four discussions with stakeholders.
A questionnaire has been prepared to gather public opinions, which has been made available on the commission’s website.
Furthermore, proposals for amendments to certain laws and regulations have been submitted and are currently undergoing verification.
Suggestions are also being made to simplify several processes.
Regarding the changes in crowd control measures, Safar Raj Hossain stated that certain sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 are under review to determine whether modifications will be enacted.
