The death toll from dengue fever has risen to 438 this year across the country, with two more fatalities reported in the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning.
The latest deaths occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and the Khulna Division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 458 new dengue cases were recorded nationwide. Among them, 114 patients were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 67 were hospitalised in Dhaka South.
Currently, 3,870 individuals are undergoing treatment for the mosquito-borne disease in various hospitals across the country. Since the start of 2024, Bangladesh has documented 84,826 dengue cases.
In comparison, 2023 marked the deadliest year for dengue in the country’s history, with 1,705 fatalities. That year, DGHS reported a staggering 321,179 dengue cases, of which 318,749 patients recovered.
