Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) commenced its rally from the party's central office in Nayapaltan, marking "National Revolution and Solidarity Day" on Friday (8 November).
The rally began at around 3pm and was inaugurated by BNP’s acting chairman, Tareque Rahman via virtual medium. It is set to conclude at Manik Mia Avenue.
The procession saw active participation from BNP’s Dhaka North and South city units as well as affiliated bodies, including Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Sramik Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Krishak Dal, Mohila Dal, Matsyajibi Dal, Ulama Dal, and JASAS.
Leaders and members joined under separate banners, showcasing a strong organisational presence.
By 11am, BNP leaders and supporters from various wards and neighbouring districts had started gathering in Nayapaltan in smaller processions.
The surrounding areas, including Kakrail, Fakirapool, Shantinagar, and Motijheel, became crowded with participants.
The rally featured BNP leaders and activists clad in vibrant caps and jerseys, holding banners and placards.
Accompanied by patriotic songs, Baul tunes, drumming, and chants amplified through microphones, the marchers made their way towards Manik Mia Avenue.
The streets resonated with slogans such as "Ziaur Rahman is another name for freedom," "Ziaur Rahman is synonymous with democracy," and "Tareque Rahman will return as a hero."
Prior to the commencement of the rally, prayers were offered for BNP’s founder, the late president Ziaur Rahman, and the party’s chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia.
The procession route traversed Nayapaltan, Kakrail Mor, Kakrail Mosque, Matsya Bhaban, the Institution of Engineers, Shahbagh, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, and Farmgate before concluding at Manik Mia Avenue, where Tarique Rahman is scheduled to deliver a closing address.
