A suspected member of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was killed in a gunfight with Bangladesh Army-led joint forces during a raid in the Perachhara area of Naniarchar Upazila early Thursday.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation began around 5:30 am following intelligence reports about a UPDF hideout in the area.

The suspected militants opened fire on the law enforcement team upon sensing their presence, prompting a gunfight, ISPR said. One UPDF member was killed on the spot, while others managed to escape.

The operation to locate the fleeing suspects is ongoing, ISPR added.
