BNP has accused the Awami League of benefiting from the overshadowing of its alleged acts of corruption, theft, and looting in the prevailing political discourse.
This claim was made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir during a press conference held at the party Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Thursday (2 December).
The press conference was convened to address allegations of extensive corruption within the power sector under the Awami League government.
A written statement on the issue was presented by BNP Standing Committee Member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.
Speaking on the occasion, Tuku remarked, "Awami League has hollowed out the country. If these issues are not highlighted, people will forget them. It is essential to reiterate these points frequently. Awami League has committed the most significant corruption in the power sector."
BNP leaders expressed concerns that the ruling party’s alleged misconduct risks fading from public memory unless consistently spotlighted, while simultaneously enabling the Awami League to consolidate its position despite ongoing controversies.
