BNP has alleged that new conspiracies are being hatched in Bangladesh, with Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir asserting that a credible election with minimal reforms is the sole resolution to the prevailing political crisis.

Speaking on Wednesday (1 January) afternoon at a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal to mark its founding anniversary, held at the Engineers Institute in the capital, Fakhrul highlighted the gravity of the nation’s political situation.

"In today’s political circumstances, the only resolution to this crisis can be a universally acceptable election," Fakhrul remarked, emphasising that history underscores this necessity.

Fakhrul expressed concern over the resurgence of what he described as conspiratorial manoeuvres. "Regrettably, Bangladesh is once again witnessing the start of these political conspiracies, reminiscent of past episodes that have had dire consequences. It is due to such machinations that we lost Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia was imprisoned for six years, and acting chairman Tarique Rahman remains in exile."

Elaborating on the alleged schemes, Fakhrul accused unnamed groups of seeking to marginalise those committed to Bangladesh’s sovereignty and welfare.

"These conspiracies have occurred repeatedly, targeting leaders and parties who prioritise the nation above all. We state unequivocally - the people of Bangladesh will never allow these plots to succeed. Numerous attempts have been made to dismantle the BNP, but they have all failed," he declared.

The event featured speeches from other BNP leaders, including Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Asaduzzaman Ripon, Chairperson’s Advisor Amanullah Aman, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Executive Committee Member Nazimuddin Alam, former Chhatra Dal President Kazi Rawnakul Islam, and former Chhatra Dal General Secretary Habibur Rashid Habib.
