The government has formed a four-member taskforce to probe journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case following the apex court’s verdict.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
The taskforce has been given six months to submit investigation report before the apex court.
The taskforce can co-opt members, the circular said.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chief was made convener of the taskforce and three representatives, one each from the Department of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), will act as member.
The representatives from the Department of Police and CID will not be below the rank of additional deputy inspector general (DIG) and RAB’s officer will not be below the director, it reads.
