Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar has announced his resignation amid protests over revaluation of HSC results and its equivalent examinations.

He told the media that he would submit his resignation from the post of chairman to the Ministry of Education today (21 October).

Tapan Kumar made the announcement to the students who were staging protests in the board office demanding cancellation of their results and the resignation of board chairman.

The students said that they were attacked during the protest and a few students were injured in the attack.

On the other hand, the officials of the board claimed that some students entered the building and vandalised the room of the chairman of the education board.

On 15 October, the results of this year's HSC and equivalent examinations were published. The average pass rate in 11 education boards is 77.78 percent.
