The day before, Taijul Islam, fresh off a five-wicket haul, expressed in a press conference his desire to dismiss South Africa as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada stated their goal of extending the lead to at least 100 runs.

Rabada’s aim now seems on the verge of realisation today.

By the morning of the second day, South Africa has come tantalisingly close to securing a triple-digit lead.

In the first hour of play, Bangladesh failed to create any significant breakthroughs, allowing the visitors to steadily accumulate runs with ease.

Over the 14 overs bowled in that first hour, South Africa added 52 runs without losing a wicket, bringing their total to 192.

They now require just 14 more runs to reach a 100-run lead.
