Former IGP Shahidul on 7-day, Mamun on 8-day remand

A Dhaka court has put two former inspectors general of police (IGPs) - Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and AKM Shahidul Hoque - on remand in connection with murder cases filed with different police stations in the city.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Akhtaruzzaman passed the orders on Wednesday (4 September) morning.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was placed on an eight-day remand in a case filed over the death of a grocery shop owner Abu Saeed in Mohammadpur area in the capital city on 19 July.

Earlier in the day, he was produced before the court at 6:45am seeking 10-day remand prayer.

In addition, Shahidul was placed on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the death of trader Abdul Wadud in the city's New Market area on 19 July during quota reform protests.

Earlier in the day, he was produced before the court seeking 10-day remand prayer in the murder case.

Police arrested Mamun and Shahidul from Uttara area in the wee hours of Wednesday (4 September).
