A Dhaka court has granted a 4-day fresh remand for Hasanul Haq Inu, President of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD), in connection with the murder case of Khalid Hasan Saifullah Abdullah, a first-year student of Ideal College in Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehra Mahbub passed the order on Sunday after police sought a 7-day remand.

Inu was presented to the court following 12 days of remand over two prior terms.

Inu, a former Information Minister and a key leader of the Central 14-Party Alliance led by the Awami League, was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from Uttara on 26 August.

Khalid Hasan Saifullah was shot dead in the Azimpur area of Dhaka on 18 July. On 19 August, Khalid's father, Kamrul Hasan, filed a case with Lalbagh Police Station, accusing 52 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
