Army Chief departs for Central African Republic

As part of his visit, he is also set to inaugurate a community clinic established by Bangladesh Army peacekeepers to provide healthcare services to the local population.

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman departed Dhaka on Monday for a three-day official visit to the Central African Republic.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief will inspect the activities of Bangladeshi contingents stationed in the country and meet with Bangladeshi peacekeepers serving there.

As part of his visit, he is also set to inaugurate a community clinic established by Bangladesh Army peacekeepers to provide healthcare services to the local population.

Currently, five contingents of the Bangladesh Army are engaged in peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic. Since 2014, a total of 9,961 Bangladeshi army personnel have served as peacekeepers in the conflict-ridden nation, with 11 personnel making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, the statement added.
