Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has commenced its extended meeting with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, drawing nearly 4,000 representatives from across the country.

The meeting, which began at 11am on Thursday (27 February), has generated significant enthusiasm among party leaders and grassroots representatives.

Held at the LD Hall of the National Parliament complex, the meeting is being chaired virtually by BNP's acting chairperson, Tarique Rahman, from London.

At the heart of discussions is BNP’s strategy for the upcoming national elections, with a focus on organisational preparedness and future action plans.

The party leadership aims to incorporate grassroots leaders' insights into a comprehensive electoral strategy, ensuring alignment with public expectations.

Tarique Rahman is expected to provide crucial directives on election preparedness, party unity, and discipline—guidance that will be implemented by grassroots leaders in the field.

Senior BNP policymakers have indicated that the meeting will also assess the recent political movement and refine the party’s roadmap leading up to the elections.

A key agenda of the discussions is the selection of parliamentary candidates.

The BNP leadership intends to prioritise candidates with strong electoral prospects, assessing their popularity and grassroots connections based on feedback from local leaders.

This input is expected to provide a clearer picture of potential nominees and their standing within their respective constituencies.

As the BNP navigates the political landscape ahead of the elections, this expanded meeting is set to play a pivotal role in shaping its electoral battle plan.
