Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has emphasised the need for peace and unity in Bangladesh, stating that a secure and harmonious society is essential for national progress.
"Peace in Bangladesh is of utmost importance. We must always keep this in mind. We want peace in the country, for the nation, and for the entire world," Yunus said on Monday (31 March) during an Eid greetings exchange at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon.
The event was attended by government advisers, the chiefs of the three armed forces, political leaders, diplomats, members of the National Consensus Commission, civil society representatives, and journalists.
Yunus urged the nation to embrace the spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr to foster unity and reduce divisions. "This Eid is particularly significant as we must come closer, minimise our differences, and unite as a society. Achieving unity at this critical juncture is imperative," he said.
He stressed the need for tolerance and mutual understanding to build a more cohesive society.
Later, addressing diplomats in English, Yunus described the occasion as a moment for national unification. "This is a day to overcome differences and build unity. The nation needs it now more than ever," he remarked.
He called upon all stakeholders to contribute to strengthening national unity and moving Bangladesh forward. "We have an unexplored bright future ahead. It begins with unifying and building the nation. Let’s make that vision a reality," Yunus said.
