Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, delivered a pointed message to government secretaries and bureaucrats during a live session on his personal Facebook page. He urged them to distance themselves from political allegiances and prioritise their duty to the people.
"You have come to serve the people, not to pledge loyalty to any political party," Hasnat said. "The Awami League has used you as their weapon. Understand this: you are committed to the people, not to political parties."
He cautioned officials against maintaining connections with external forces, warning, "If you think sitting in the secretariat while maintaining ties with Dhanmondi or India will secure your relevance, you are mistaken. Just as the Awami League has become irrelevant to the people of Bangladesh, the same fate will befall you."
The student leader extended his warning to the secretariat, stating, "I sincerely hope that the secretariat does not meet the same fate as Dhanmondi 32 or Ganabhaban, whether this year, ten years from now, or twenty years later. Learn from the history of Dhanmondi 32, learn from Ganabhaban."
Hasnat said, "There is no place on earth where fascism has been eradicated while its symbols are left intact. Dhanmondi 32 should have been wiped out on 5 August, and later, the people did so spontaneously.”
