Hasnat Abdullah, convenor of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has declared that any media outlet broadcasting Sheikh Hasina’s speeches should be considered as supporting the ousted prime minister.

Speaking at a press conference today, Hasnat stated that Sheikh Hasina and the Chhatra League are no longer relevant in Bangladesh’s political landscape. He described Hasina as the "butcher of Bangladesh," accusing her of being responsible for the deaths of thousands to maintain her grip on power.

The press conference was organised in collaboration with the National Citizens Committee to launch a public opinion campaign titled A New Bangladesh in Your Eyes. During a Q&A session, Hasnat claimed that Hasina and her party had been politically dismantled following the events of August 5.

“If they were still relevant, they wouldn’t have had to flee on August 5,” he remarked.

Hasnat criticised media coverage of Hasina, questioning why outlets still refer to her as a former Prime Minister rather than a “fascist murderer.” He asserted that any media platform failing to label her as such was perpetuating the Awami League’s influence.

“We have closed the Hasina chapter, the Chhatra League chapter, on August 5,” Hasnat declared. “From now on, we may have political disagreements with other anti-fascist groups, but one thing is certain—Hasina and her authoritarian rule will not be rehabilitated in this country.”

He warned that any media airing Hasina’s speeches would be seen as standing against the will of the people, insisting that the recent uprising was a rejection of her rule.

Other speakers at the press conference included National Citizens Committee convenor Nasiruddin Patwari, member secretary Akhtar Hossain, and spokesperson Samantha Sharmin.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement also posted on its verified Facebook page, issuing a stern warning: "If any statement from the murderer, genocidal, fascist Hasina is broadcast in the media, those media outlets will have to bear the consequences."
