A total of six vehicles were involved in a series of road accidents due to dense fog in Rangpur, leaving at least 25 people injured.
The incident occurred around 7:30 am on Saturday (1 February) at the Garer Matha junction on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Mithapukur.
According to highway police and local sources, the vehicles, travelling from Dhaka, lost control in the heavy fog at the Garer Matha junction. At that moment, two buses, a lorry, a pickup truck, and a covered van collided at the four-way junction. As a result, some vehicles sustained minor damage, with front windows shattered. Between 20 and 25 people sustained injuries, some of whom were taken to hospital with serious wounds.
Baradargah Highway Police stated that upon receiving reports of the accident, officers arrived at the scene to rescue the injured and provide first aid. Efforts to clear the vehicles from the road commenced immediately. The vehicles involved included two passenger coaches, a lorry, a pickup truck, and a covered van.
