The interim government will move towards election after making necessary reforms, said Asif Mahmud, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"So many have not sacrificed their lives for such a swift election," he said speaking at a winter clothing distribution event in the Baladangi Upazila Parishad Hall on Wednesday morning (25 December).
The adviser highlighted the government's ongoing focus on the development of neglected areas, particularly in northern districts.
He reassured the public that these regions, including Baladangi, would see comprehensive development, with plans to elevate the area to national standards.
The adviser announced an allocation of Tk50 lakh for the establishment of a library in Baladangi, as part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance local infrastructure and education.
Addressing concerns about government officials' involvement in contracting, Asif Mahmud commented on the increasing trend of officials engaging in contracting activities across the country, asserting that steps would be taken to address these issues.
Regarding the treatment of those injured in the recent public uprising, the adviser expressed his empathy, stating, “We have met with the injured and are working to ensure they receive the necessary medical care.” He assured that their treatment would be expedited in the coming days.
