Advisor to the Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan today said the government will take strict action if there is any seditious activity interfering in the country’s independence and sovereignty.
Sajeeb Bhuiyan, also the adviser in-charge of the ministry of Youth and Sports, made the comment while speaking at a view-exchange meeting organized in distributing winter clothes among the needy at the Paotana College ground in Chhawla union of Pirgachha upazila in the district this afternoon.
He said, “We want to make it clear that if anyone found involved in seditious acts, whoever he is, no matter how big the leader is, he won’t be given any concession. Law enforcement agencies will take action not in the interest of the community, but in the interest of security of the state.”
Referring to arrest of expelled ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, he said that he was arrested not as a leader of any community, but for sedition charges against him.
In this connection, the adviser said the July August-2024 mass uprising took place in line with the people’s expectations to eliminate disparities from society.
“We want a democracy without discrimination. Previously, there was area-based discrimination in Bangladesh. Development has taken place in the areas of Prime Minister and ministers concerned,” he said.
Asif Mahmud said, “We want to eliminate discrimination and develop the entire country in a balanced manner. During the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s fascist regime, two districts including Gopalganj have been developed.
Discrimination has been done with the rest of the districts.”
He said, “In an independent Bangladesh, the people of Rangpur will no longer be victim of discrimination. We need to provide many civic services. We will take action regarding the union parishads by creating alternative systems.”
Later, about 600 pieces of winter clothes and blankets were distributed among helpless and distressed families.
The family members of the martyrs of 2024 mass uprising including Rahima Khatun, wife of Shaheed mason Shaheed Manju Mia, Azgar Ali, father of garment worker Shaheed Mamun Mia, and Rani Begum, wife of Shaheed Saiful Islam broke into tears while expressing their pain in the function.

At that time, hundreds of people of Ulipur upazila arrived at the Panial Ghat to voice their demands.
