Israeli military strikes on the besieged Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of five journalists, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Thursday (26 December).

The report stated that Israeli forces targeted a vehicle carrying journalists near a hospital in the central Nusirat refugee camp, killing five journalists on the spot.

Separately, an airstrike on a residential building in northern Gaza claimed five more lives. At least 30 individuals remain missing in the aftermath of the attacks.

In another tragic development, doctors in Gaza have reported the deaths of three Palestinian children in a displaced persons’ camp in southern Gaza due to hypothermia.

The fatalities have been attributed to plummeting temperatures, acute shortages of food and water, and the absence of essential winter clothing.

The Israeli military has also intensified operations in the Tulkarem refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, where eight people, including two women and one teenager, were killed during the assault.

Meanwhile, the Rehabilitation Division of Israel’s Ministry of Defence has disclosed that the ongoing Gaza-Israel conflict has injured 13,500 Israeli soldiers and officers, with 1,500 suffering injuries twice.

Of the wounded, 37 per cent are grappling with limb injuries, most involving fractures, and around 5,200 individuals are reported to be experiencing psychological trauma.

Israeli forces have continued their relentless assault on Gaza following the unprecedented cross-border attack by Hamas on 7 October.

The sustained aerial and ground strikes have left hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, churches, and thousands of other structures damaged or destroyed.

Currently, 85% of Gaza’s population has been displaced due to Israeli strikes.

The entire region faces severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, plunging the people into a dire state of food insecurity.

Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, at least 45,361 people have been killed in Gaza, with 107,803 injured.

On the other hand, Hamas attacks on Israel have resulted in 1,139 deaths, with over 200 Israeli citizens taken hostage.
