Dengue has claimed three more lives in the last 24 hours, raising the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 485 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities were reported in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation. Meanwhile, 354 new dengue patients were hospitalised during the same period, with 91 cases reported under Dhaka North City Corporation and 45 under Dhaka South City Corporation.
Currently, 3,028 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Since January 1, a total of 90,794 dengue cases have been reported nationwide.
Last year marked the deadliest dengue outbreak in Bangladesh, with 1,705 fatalities and 3,21,179 cases recorded. Of these, 3,18,749 patients recovered.
The DGHS continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures against mosquito breeding to curb the spread of the disease.
