Jamaat-e-Islam Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called upon the interim government for working on some basic issues alongside bringing reforms to the state mechanism to pave the right way of governing the country.
“We’re taking part in the dialogue for the need of the nation. This government is a neutral and non-political one. They didn’t come to rule the country rather to pave the correct way of governance,” he said.
He came up with the opinions while leading a delegation of the Jamaat-e-Islami in a dialogue with the advisers led by Chief Advise Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus at state guest house Jamuna here.
Dr Shafiqur said the task of the interim government is to present the nation a peaceful and fair election.
“For that, the interim government would have to work on some basic issues alongside bringing reforms. We talked about the issues in the dialogue,” he said.
The Jamaat Ameer said they would make public their proposals on October 9.
“We will present our thoughts on the necessary reforms before the nation on that day,” he said.
Dr Shafiqur said they also talked about the present law and order situation of the country.
“We held discussions on how we can improve the law and order situation along with making the nation united to confront any kind of conspiracy against the state,” he said.
The Jamaat Ameer said the interim government would take the country to a better place without taking side of anyone or going against anyone.
“We also hope that the interim government would present the nation a fair election without taking a very long time,” he said.
“We want to give them a logical time for reforms and we will work soon to fix the timeframe,” he added.
The Jamaat Ameer said they also held discussion on upcoming Durga Puja and laid importance on participation of the people to maintain the law and order in the puja mondops and temples.
“Hindu brothers and sisters would enjoy and celebrate the festival in an unprecedented way,” he hoped.
Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameers Prof Mojibur Rahman, Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, and ANM Shamsul Islam, assistant secretary generals Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and Maulana Abdul Halim, central executive members: Saiful Alam Khan Milon, secretary of the publicity and media wing Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, Dhaka South City Jamaat Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka City North Ameer Md Selim Uddin and Mobarak Hossain, were among the delegation members.
