Jamaat mourns death of former CEC Abdur Rouf

"He was a man of great personality, a just, prudent, and wise judge"

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's central executive council member and Dhaka City North unit Ameer, Mohammad Selim Uddin, along with central working committee member and Dhaka City North unit secretary, Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and former Justice Md Abdur Rouf.

Justice Rouf breathed his last at 9:55 am today while undergoing treatment at Insaf Barakah Kidney and General Hospital in Dhaka. He was 91.

In a condolence message, the leaders stated that Justice Abdur Rouf was a guardian of the nation who worked tirelessly for the country and its people. "He was a man of great personality, a just, prudent, and wise judge. As Chief Election Commissioner, he conducted free, fair, and credible elections. Additionally, he served as the head of the central Fulkuri Ashor, significantly contributing to the establishment of various socio-cultural organizations in the country. His death is a great loss for national life, and the vacuum created by his demise will not be easily filled," they said.

They prayed for divine mercy, stating, "May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, forgive his human mistakes and shortcomings, bestow His mercy upon him, and guide him with angels of mercy on this new journey. May Allah accept his services, grant him complete blessings, and welcome him as a guest in Jannatul Firdaus."

The city leaders also conveyed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
