Adani Power Ltd has resumed full electricity supply to Bangladesh, four months after slashing deliveries due to unpaid dues.

"We're making regular payments to Adani and receiving power as per our requirements," Rezaul Karim, chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), told Bloomberg on 27 March.

However, he did not specify whether past arrears have been settled.

According to BPDB data, Adani increased its power supply over two weeks ago.

The Indian conglomerate had earlier halved its feed from its 1,600-megawatt coal-fired plant in Jharkhand on 31 October, citing delayed payments amid Bangladesh’s foreign exchange crisis.

BPDB had been paying $85 million per month to clear outstanding dues and has now instructed Adani to resume operations from the second unit of its $2 billion plant, which supplies exclusively to Bangladesh under a 25-year contract signed in 2017 during ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s tenure.

A dispute over tariff calculations remains unresolved, with Adani’s power costing Bangladesh 55% more than the average Indian electricity supply, according to Reuters.
