Ministry of Public Administration has appointed new District Commissioners (DCs) in eight districts, issuing a gazette for the transfer of senior officials

Eight new District Commissioners (DCs) have been appointed in various districts across Bangladesh. The districts receiving new DCs are Joypurhat, Rajshahi, Rajbari, Sirajganj, Kushtia, Dinajpur, Shariatpur, and Natore.

Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette, assigning these senior officials to the posts of DC in their respective districts on Wednesday (30 October).

Each official appointed to the role holds the rank of Deputy Secretary.

In this reshuffle, Afroza Akhter Chowdhury, deputy chief in the Planning Division, has been appointed as the DC of Joypurhat, while Afiya Akhter, the zonal settlement officer of the Chattogram Land Records and Survey Directorate, has been named the DC of Rajshahi. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, a deputy secretary attached to the Ministry of Shipping, has been appointed as the DC of Rajbari, and Muhammad Nazrul Islam, an additional director at the Government Housing Department, has been assigned as the DC of Sirajganj.

Additionally, Md Toufiqur Rahman, deputy secretary at the Finance Division, has been appointed as the DC of Kushtia, and Md Rafiqul Islam, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, will serve as the DC of Dinajpur. Mohammad Ashraf Uddin, director of the Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trust, has been appointed as the DC of Shariatpur, while Asma Shaheen, a deputy secretary attached to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, has been appointed as the DC of Natore.

These appointments come as part of a broader administrative reshuffle by the government.
