Eight of the 59 newly appointed District Commissioners (DCs) have been withdrawn, and four others have been reassigned, said Ministry of Public Administration Secretary Dr Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman.

"An investigation committee, consisting of a single member, has been established to ascertain the reasons behind the recent undesirable incident. The committee has been instructed to submit its report within seven working days," he said in a briefing with journalists at the secretariat on Wednesday )11 September).

Earlier, on Monday and Tuesday, new DCs were appointed across 59 districts in the country.

Protests erupted at the secretariat on 10 September, from a group of officials at the under-secretary level, who alleged that they had been unfairly overlooked in the appointments.
