Railway Minister Md. Zillul Hakim has announced that standing tickets have been arranged for those who could not buy tickets online, and steps have been taken to ensure smooth Eid travel.
Every day, a total of 33,500 tickets for intercity trains are being sold, along with one-fourth of the non-AC compartment's total seats allocated for standing tickets.
"No one can travel by rail without a ticket. Strict instructions have been issued to monitor ticket sales. Railway law enforcement forces have been instructed to remain vigilant and active to ensure passenger safety," Zillul stated while speaking with journalists after visiting Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka on Wednesday (3 April).
He mentioned that plans have been made to ensure that the return journey is also safe and comfortable.
"Security measures have been implemented at almost every point, including Dhaka station, to ensure the safety of trains," said the minister.
The minister stated that initiatives have been taken to increase the passenger transport capacity of the railways.
"The passenger transport capacity will improve significantly within the next year. Approval has been granted for the purchase of 200 coaches to augment the train fleet, and arrangements will soon be made to acquire them" said the minister.
