Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that storms with wind speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour may sweep across 14 regions of the country, including the capital Dhaka, by midnight on Monday (14 April).
According to the weather forecast issued for inland river ports until 1am on 14 April, temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or north-west are likely to occur, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.
The affected regions include Rajshahi, Pabna, Faridpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Sylhet.
The advisory has instructed inland river ports in these areas to hoist cautionary signal number one.
