With mid-Chaitra upon us, temperatures continue to soar.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned that April could witness two to four mild (36–37.9°C) or moderate (38–39.9°C) heatwaves, alongside one to two intense (40–41.9°C) heatwaves across the country.
Additionally, one to two low-pressure systems may develop over the Bay of Bengal, with at least one potentially intensifying into a depression or a cyclone.
The forecast, issued by a specialist meteorological committee, is based on various weather models, upper atmospheric conditions, climate maps, and data analysis.
According to a bulletin signed by meteorologist Md Mominul Islam, rainfall in April is expected to be below average.
Thunderstorms and hailstorms are likely on five to seven days, with one to three days of severe nor’westers.
Both daytime and nighttime temperatures are anticipated to remain above normal.
Regarding river conditions, major rivers across the country are expected to maintain normal flow.
However, in the latter half of April, moderate to heavy rainfall in the northeastern region and upstream areas may lead to a sudden rise in water levels in those rivers.
