Detectives have arrested six individuals in connection with the armed robbery and shooting of a gold trader in Dhaka’s Banasree area on 24 February.
A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted raids in different parts of the capital and apprehended the suspects, according to DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman.
Law enforcement officials also recovered stolen gold jewellery and illegal firearms from their possession.
A press briefing regarding the arrests is scheduled for Saturday noon.
On 24 February, 45-year-old businessman Anwar Hossain was shot and robbed while returning home from his jewellery shop, ‘Alankar,’ located in Banasree C Block.
He was carrying 200 tolas of gold and Tk 100,000 in cash when a gang ambushed him, shooting him in the hands and legs before fleeing with the valuables.
Anwar was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the case and are working to identify any remaining suspects involved in the crime.
