Actress and singer Meher Afroz Shaon and actress Sohana Saba have been released from the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) after being interrogated over allegations of involvement in anti-state conspiracies.
The two were handed over to their families today, according to DMP Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman. "They have been released after questioning."
Meher Afroz Shaon was detained from her residence in Dhanmondi on 6 February. Authorities claimed her name surfaced during an investigation into a meeting held at Hotel Park in Kolkata on 15 January, where she was allegedly present either physically or virtually. Following this, she was placed under close surveillance before being brought in for questioning.
Sohana Saba was apprehended from the Dhanmondi area of the capital at around 12:30 am on Thursday (7 February). She was subsequently taken to the DB headquarters on Minto Road for interrogation regarding her alleged participation in anti-state activities.
