Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasised the need for law enforcement agencies to desist from undue flattery and warned against arresting individuals in plain clothes.
He made these remarks on Monday (9 December) at 11am during a consultative meeting held at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Armed Forces Division, law enforcement agencies, and various departmental heads from the Khulna Division.
In a firm directive, the adviser instructed law enforcement agencies not to extend undue advantages to any political party.
Highlighting the prevalence of false cases, he declared that action would be taken against those filing fraudulent charges.
“No guilty individual will be spared, and no innocent person should be apprehended,” he affirmed.
Discussing concerns over the country’s law and order situation, he revealed that weapons had been looted from several police stations across the country. Despite ongoing operations, the recovery of these arms has not met expectations.
He underscored that restoring normalcy in law enforcement would necessitate the retrieval of these stolen weapons.
Additionally, the adviser expressed alarm over rising incidents of mob justice, where individuals are taking the law into their own hands, often leading to tragic murders.
He called for urgent, decisive action to put an end to such occurrences, stressing the need for robust measures to restore public safety and confidence in the legal system.
