13 High Court judges to monitor subordinate courts

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has reconstituted the committee formed to monitor subordinate courts in eight divisions across the country.

According to the notification, the Chief Justice of Bangladesh has formed 13 separate 'Monitoring Committees for Subordinate Courts' in eight divisions.  
 
At the same time, 13 judicial officers have also been entrusted with responsibility of giving secretarial support.
 
High Court (HC) division Justice Md. Habibul Gani  was given the charge of monitoring the courts in Rajshahi-2 Division (Bogra, Joypurhat, Pabna, Sirajganj) while Justice J. B. M. Hassan of Barishal Division (Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna),  Justice Md. Akram Hossain Chowdhury of Dhaka-1 Division (Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Tangail), Justice Mahmudul Hoque of  Khulna-1 Division (Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Narail), Justice Zafar Ahmed of Khulna-2 Division (Kushtia, Meherpur, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Magura), Justice Razik-Al-Jalil of Mymensingh Division (Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona), and Justice Fatema Najib of Dhaka-2 Division (Kishoreganj, Faridpur, Rajbari, Gopalganj, Shariatpur, Madaripur).
 
HC Division Justice S M Kuddus Zaman has been given the responsibility of monitoring Chittagong-1 Division (Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachari) while Sashanka Shekhar Sarkar of Rangpur-1 Division (Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat), Justice Ahmed Sohel of Chittagong-2 Division (Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Chandpur), Justice Sardar Md. Rashed Jahangir of Rajshahi-1 Division (Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore) Justice K. M. Hafizul Alam of Rangpur-2 division (Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari), and Justice Md. Atabullah of Sylhet division (Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj).
 
Earlier, on 27 January 2022, the Supreme Court administration assigned eight judges to monitor the subordinate courts in eight divisions. Later, it was increased to 13 people in October 2023. It has now been restructured.
