Thousands of people gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka this afternoon for the ‘March for Gaza’ programme, demanding an end to Israeli atrocities in Palestine and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The event officially began at 3:00 pm, with Islamic scholar Mizanur Rahman Azhari addressing the crowd, and Muhammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, presiding over the gathering.

From early morning, people entered the venue, marching from key points including Bangla Motor, Kakrail intersection, Zero Point, Bakshibazar, and Nilkhet, with many carrying the national flags of Bangladesh and Palestine.

The crowd chanted slogans such as "Free Palestine," "Stop Israeli aggression," and "Boycott Israeli products".

Prominent political and social figures, including BNP leader Salauddin Ahmed, Ahmadullah of As-Sunnah Foundation, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, National Citizen Party (NCP) Southern Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah and Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman participated in the event.

Mahmudur Rahman read out a collective declaration from the stage in Bengali, English, and Arabic, calling for an end to Israeli aggression and urging support for the Palestinian cause.

In his address, Mizanur Rahman Azhari said, "Today’s massive gathering reflects Bangladesh’s unwavering love for Palestine and Al-Aqsa. Geographically, we may be far from Palestine, but in our hearts, every Bangladeshi carries a piece of Palestine."

To ensure security, members of the Bangladesh Army and Police were deployed around Suhrawardy Udyan and adjacent areas.
