The onset of winter has begun to be felt in the capital Dhaka and various regions across the country.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the chill is expected to intensify towards the end of this month, with temperatures likely to drop more significantly from mid-December.

Weather forecast for Sunday (17 November), predicts that the weather across the country may remain predominantly dry, with partly cloudy skies in some areas.

A slight drop in both daytime and nighttime temperatures is anticipated nationwide.

Temperatures in Panchagarh fell to 17°C on Saturday (16 November), signalling the arrival of cooler weather.

BMD in a forecast noted that the normal seasonal low-pressure system is positioned over the South Bay of Bengal, with its extension reaching the North Bay.

Under these conditions, light fog may form in river basins across the country during the early hours.

Across the country, temperatures are expected to drop further at night and during the day, thereby heightening the sensation of winter.

For Monday (18 November), the forecast suggests that the weather will continue to be dry across the country, with partly cloudy skies in some regions.

Nighttime temperatures may see a slight decrease, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.

Additionally, light fog may be observed in some river basins during the early morning hours.

BMD also indicated that the weather pattern may experience minor changes over the next five days.
