Dhaka today protested to Indian government on the killing of a Bangladeshi national, Md. Kamal Hossain hailing from Sadar South upazila of Cumilla district.
Kamal was shot and killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India on October 7.
“The Government of Bangladesh calls upon the Government of India to stop recurrence of such heinous acts and conduct enquiries into all the border killings, as also identify those responsible and bring them to justice,” a foreign ministry press release said here.
In a protest note sent to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka today, it said, Bangladesh expressed serious concern that despite repeated commitments from the concerned authorities of India to bring down border killings to ‘zero level’, such incidents by the BSF continue to recur.
Bangladesh government stressed that such incidents of border killing are undesirable and unwarranted and such actions are in violation of the provisions of the Joint Indo-Bangladesh Guidelines for Border Authorities, 1975.
